DESCRIPTION

This work is a live performance for saxophone and live electronics. The aim of this study is to explore the timbric and expressive possibilities of the integration between saxophone and real-time signal processing. Live electronics is used here both to enhance the timbre of the acoustic instrument and to allow the creation of more sophisticated music materials. Saxophone's score of the performance is divided into two parts: a first (fixed) part is composed by the execution of two circles of fifths; the second (free improvisation) part is carried out by the performer by choosing two cells (jazz/blues?) and improvising onto them until the end of the performance. This results is an immersive and relaxed ambientation where the two instruments blend into an unique sound identity. Saxophone is performed by Riccardo Novella.
